2022 selection
Footprints selected 6 artists out of the 50 artists selected at Intl Jazz Platform 2022 in order to specifically support in their European career. This promotion will benefit from a tour organized by Footprints agents and partners mentorship so that they can reach new networks and audiences. Their training programme at Intl Jazz Platform will help them to approach new perspectives in their artistic creation but also raise awareness on ecological, social and economic issues related to their activity. Together with agents, partners and european cultural organizations they will experiment, learn and develop strategies for better artistic circulation.
Krupa Kacper
Poland
Kacper Krupa, a Polish saxophonist, composer and music producer. Member and co-founder such ensembles as Kwaśny Deszcz, Siema Ziemia, Anomalia, Skalpel Big Band, Plondra. He performed at such festivals as Jazz Jamboree, OFF Festival, Fest Festiwal, Męskie Granie, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Animator. Performed with such artist as Hania Rani, Leszek Możdżer, Natalia Przybysz, Skalpel, Łona. Collaborates with Polish Dance Theater in Poznań, the lecturer at M. Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań.
Vedovelli Tobias
AUSTRIA
Tobias Vedovelli completed his bass and composition studies in 2011 with Robert Riegler, Werner Feldgrill, Raphael Preuschl and Oliver Steger and currently lives in Vienna where he works as an electric and double bass player as well as a composer and arranger.
Vedovelli is the co-founder of the jazz/hip-hop/spoken word band “Yasmo & die Klangkantine, which has already been nominated three times for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award (2018 and 2020), awarded the 5×5 Go Scholarship of the Province of Vorarlberg, leader of the “Quartet pol. D” and co-founder of the “Ensemble Kuhle Wampe”, initiator of the onQ festival and collective.In addition, Vedovelli has been an official Sandberg Artist since 2017 and is co-founder of the Viennese label for jazz and new music “Waschsalon Records”.
Maëlle Desbrosses
FRANCE
Trained both in classical and improvised music, Maëlle Desbrosses graduated at the HEM school of Geneva in Miguel Da Silva’s course.
Having studied composition and arrangement, she also plays double bass, cello, viola d’amore and sings as well.
Music has always been a limitless universe to her, where classical education can stand alongside Jazz, traditional music, free improv as a language, understandable to all, crossing over many different genres, such as modern string quartet with Jean-Philippe Viret, Mathias Lévy and Bruno Ducret or contemporary improvised music with Sylvaine Hélary.
Her constant need for creation and engaging with others lead her to Metéore (contemporary and improvised duet with Fanny Meteier), the contemporary jazz sextet Ouroboros, and the trio Suzanne (Jazz Migration laureate), therefore playing with Delphine Joussein and Elodie Pasquier, Hélène Labarrière, Jacky Molard or Dominique Pifarely.
Patricija Skof
SLOVENIA
Patricija Škof, Slovenian vocalist and composer, graduated in 2021 from jazz-vocals at the University of music and performing arts Graz (Austria) and as an Erasmus student at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Germany). She will start her master studies of jazz vocals in September 2022 at Academy of music Basel (Switzerland). She was selected to be part of the international big band JMI World Orchestra and was touring and recording with the band in 2019 and 2021. She is also a vocalist of German national youth jazz orchestra “Bujazzo” for the season 2020-2022. She is part of various projects, performing in Slovenia and internationally, but her main project at the moment is the trio “birds of unknown”, which she forms with Tibor Pernarčič (tenor sax) and Tilen Beigot (guitar). They plan to release their debut album Gently sailing in 2022.
Eilertsen Henriette
NORWAY
As first flutist ever in Norway, Henriette Eilertsen has a BA in performing jazz. After her years at the Norwegian academy of music in Oslo, she has been exploring the role of the jazz flute in the present day music scene. Henriette Eilersten has a versatile approach, where genre specifics, traditions and constellations are merely starting points for further explorations. Be it with her own solo project which culminated in the album “Poems for Flute”, where acoustic recordings float side by side with bitcrush sounds, in the space music band Billy Meier; in 60s free jazz group Andreas Røysum Ensemble; or in the highly active 16 pc composers’s collective OJKOS, where Eilertsen was one of the founders and has composed two commissioned pieces.
Jort Terwijn
NETHERLANDS
Composer, producer and bass player. Jort studied Jazz and Improvised music at the ArtEZ University of Arts (Arnhem, Netherlands), ESMUC (Barcelona, Spain) and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Netherlands). He is a part of the vivid jazz and improvised music scene in Amsterdam where he plays in numerous groups such as the Teis Semey Quintet and BvR Flamenco Big Band. As a bandleader Jort is working with his bass-only-ensemble ‘Önder’. Önder is the winner of the Keep an Eye Records 2022 and the Leiden Jazz Award 2021.
